My name is Sonya and I am the founder of The Color of Us. I am a 1st generation Indian-American and a 3rd generation Irish-American. I love to travel and study various languages from around the world.
Growing up in a multiracial and multicultural family, my parents created a home that blended many of their cultural traditions and created space for me to explore my identity as a multiracial individual in the 21st century.
While I felt content in my identity at home, in the larger society I struggled to find multiracial and multicultural representation. Additionally, I also struggled to find peers that share similar identities and experiences.
By creating The Color of Us, my goal is to foster connection, increase opportunities and evoke conversations that raise awareness about the experience of multiracial and multicultural youth in our society.
